The Pietro Beretta Arms Factory is one of the main Italian arms manufacturers. Its weapons are used by civilians, police, and military personnel all over the world. Beretta is one of the oldest companies in the world and has been owned by the same family for nearly 500 years. The company was established in 1526 when a gunsmith from Gardone Val Trompia (province of Brescia), Mastro Bartolomeo Beretta received 296 ducats in payment for 185 arquebus barrels sold to the Arsenal of Venice. The order form is still preserved in the company's archives.
